Customer Support Specialist

American Society for Nondestructive Testing | Columbus, Ohio

Position Summary: 

The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) is looking for an individual with at least 3-5 years’ experience in customer support and sales to fill a full-time, remote Customer Support Specialist position.  

The successful candidate will be people-oriented and enjoy building customer relationships by identifying customer needs. They will also have excellent communication skills, as well as strong organizational, time-management, and computer skills, plus possess the ability to problem-solve, and work both independently and as a part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Respond to customer questions and inquiries via email, phone, and live chat.
  • Keep up to date on association programs, benefits, and events to accurately answer questions and make product purchase recommendations to customers.
  • Perform data entry, log customer interactions, and accurately keep customer records.
  • Make outbound calls with supplied scripting.
  • Process sales and send receipt and confirmation communication.
  • Issue refunds and credits.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to processes and ways to increase efficiency.
  • Supply summary reports of customer interactions and issues.
  • Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, preferably in business, communications, or marketing.
  • Three plus years of relevant working experience in customer service, business development, sales, marketing, or related field is required.
  • Prior experience working in customer relationship management (CRM) database and or Association Management Software (AMS) is required.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Basecamp preferred.
  • Prior experience with multi-line phone system.
