FAQ for OSAE 2021 Annual Conference

Where is the 2021 conference located and and when is it taking place?

As the pandemic wanes and greater numbers of Ohioans receive the vaccine for COVID-19, the Ohio Society of Association Executives has elected to host our annual conference for 2021 as an in-person event in southeast Ohio. We are so excited to head to this treasured part of Ohio for our annual meeting and look forward to having all of Ohio's association community join us. This event will be held July 21-23, 2021 in Athens County, Ohio at the Ohio University Baker Center and other surrounding areas at the university, the Ohio University Inn & Conference Center and locations throughout Athens County.

What is the appropriate attire?

We want you to be comfortable so you can enjoy your annual conference experience! Therefore, business casual attire is appropriate at all events held during the educational block of the conference. However, in the evenings, as we explore Athens County and the surrounding community, please dress casually. As much of our conference will afford you the ability to walk and experience the laid-back environment of Athens, we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes and attire. It's Athens in late July so temperatures can easily climb into the high 80s. 

How do I register for the event?

There are THREE easy ways to register: online, by mail or by phone. 

What are the registration fees and what do they include?

Full conference registration fees include access to all learning activities Wednesday through Friday. Registered attendees will also receive access to all available session handouts and the attendee roster. We will also be utilizing the OSAE Mobile App to provide registrants access to the conference materials to cut down on paper products. Due to COVID-19 and green practices, we are trying to reduce the amount of paper we distribute at this event. Please select this link to view our pricing.

Do I have the option to sign up for specific educational sessions at the 2021 Annual Conference?

This year, the sessions are concurrent - unlike what we experienced at last year's virtual conference. This means, we do ask you to select which sessions interest you the most to ensure that we have the rooms set up appropriately and also to ensure proper social distancing protocols are established to keep our participants as safe as possible as we are still battling COVID-19. 

What are the CEU hours and how do I know if the conference is approved for the CE I need?

OSAE has achieved the "Approved CAE Provider" status from ASAE, the Center for Association Leadership. What this means for you is that all OSAE programming automatically qualifies for CAE education hours. Attendance at the full Annual Conference qualifies for eleven (11) education hours of CEU for CAE application or renewal.  

Does OSAE have a conference app?

Yes, we do! Once again, OSAE is working with Results at Hand, the app firm that created a mobile conference app for us many years ago that allows anyone with web-browsing capabilities (smartphone, tablet, PC, etc.) to engage! This allows you to keep up-to-date with the conference details through your mobile devices! May I tweet, blog or use other social media outlets before, during and after the meeting to discuss topics announced at the meeting?

Absolutely! OSAE encourages you to use social media to share views, give feedback, network and discuss new developments in person. You can follow OSAE via Twitter @OhioSAE, and we encourage the use of #OSAE21 for related posts, as well as #OSAEInspires, #OSAEBetterTogether and #PeaceLoveAthensOSAE.

Will handouts be available?

The annual conference is paper‐lite for our education sessions. As we are a "green friendly" organization, OSAE consciously aims to reduce the amount of paper we use on handouts at all our events and conferences. Additionally, this increases the quality and timeliness of the resources provided through the learning experience as presenters can update their materials more rapidly versus having to reprint attendee handouts. Electronic program materials and handouts replace paper and can accessed online before, during and after the program.

What if I have special needs to fully participate in the conference?

Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), participants with special needs should indicate on the registration form, or contact OSAE's office as early as possible so that any requirements can be adequately acted upon.

I am not a member of OSAE, but my co-worker is. Can I use their membership to register at the member rate?

No; membership in OSAE is individual and, thus, non-transferable. However, association professionals registering for the meeting as a non-member will receive a complimentary one-year membership in OSAE! (Note: This option is not available for former OSAE members whose membership has lapsed within the past three years.)

What are important dates to remember?

Mark your calendar for June 26, which is when early-bird registration ends.

Will I be refunded if I have to cancel my registration?

We'll be sorry that you won't be able to join us for this exceptional learning and networking experience! However, we understand that things happen so if you simply can't attend, please notify us in writing by July 6, 2021. A 60-percent surcharge will be retained if cancellations are received between July 7-15, 2021. No credits or refunds will be issued after July 16 or for non-participation. How can I become a speaker at the OSAE 2021 Annual Conference?

At this time, the program for the OSAE 2021 Annual Conference is finalized. Proposals were due by Oct. 30, 2020 — we are sorry you missed this deadline. This online form allows you to submit your ideas not only for annual conference, but for all other programs that OSAE holds throughout the year.
