Coalition Supports Hospitality Recovery Bill

The Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act was introduced in February

Members of the Go Live Together coalition, including the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), are urging support of legislation introduced earlier this year that would provide comprehensive relief for the convention, trade show, entertainment, travel and hospitality industries and their workers.

The Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act was introduced in February by Rep. Steven Horsford (D-NV), Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL), Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND).

The bill would stimulate the economy by providing a temporary business tax credit to revitalize business meetings and conferences; a temporarily restored entertainment business expense deduction; an individual tax credit to stimulate non-business travel; and tax relief for restaurants and food and beverage companies to help restore food service jobs.

The bill is also endorsed by U.S. Travel, the American Gaming Association, the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the National Restaurant Association and numerous other organizations.

Individuals and organizations are encouraged to utilize this grassroots portal to send a message to their elected representatives and urge them to support the legislation. Support of the Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act will be a key issue for the Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance’s (ECA) Legislative Action Day, which will take place virtually June 1-2, 2021.
