Leading Lobbyist Neil Clark Died by Suicide, Autopsy Confirms

Prior to his death, Clark was accused in the HB 6 scandal

Prominent Columbus lobbyist Neil Clark died by suicide while wearing a blue "DeWine for Governor" T-shirt, according to his Florida autopsy report.

Clark, 67, died from a gunshot wound to the head on March 15, according to an autopsy from the Collier County Medical Examiner’s Office obtained through a public records request. A bicyclist found Clark's body near a pond that was close to Clark's Bonita Springs, Florida home.

At the time of his death, Clark was facing a federal racketeering charge in connection with a nearly $61 million bribery scheme to pass a $1 billion bailout for two nuclear plants in northern Ohio and defend the law against a ballot initiative to block it. Clark pleaded not guilty to the offense, which will likely soon be dismissed.
