Census Data Show Columbus Growth
Housing could become a concern
Columbus saw big growth in the last decade. The 2020 Census shows it has surpassed 900,000 people, a close to 15 percent rise since the last census in 2010. Delaware and Union counties also grew by more than 20 percent.
"That's pretty indicative that people want to be here and that's a good thing,” said Jon Melchi, executive director of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio, also a director on the OSAP board of directors. "So, we need to continue to meet the demand that's in the market."
Columbus was one of only 14 cities that experienced growth of 100,000 people or more over the last 10 years. But as the city continues to grow, is there enough housing?
