Mask Mandates Back in Effect at National Parks

Here's what to know

Planning to stop at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway or hike to the Clingmans Dome observation tower in the Great Smokies?

Then better bring a face mask.

The National Park Service issued a directive Aug. 15 to immediately require visitors, employees and contractors to wear a mask inside all NPS buildings and in “crowded outdoor spaces,” regardless of vaccination status or community transmission levels, in accordance with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as cases of COVID-19, led by the delta variant, continue to spike across the country and in North Carolina.
