COVID-19 Update: 10,588 New Cases Reported Today

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 10,588 new cases of COVID-19 and 486 new hospitalizations. The agency did not report any additional deaths.

According to health officials, a portion of those cases is part of a backlog of 7,699 positive COVID-19 tests between the dates of March 7 and Dec. 3. In a release, the ODH explained those cases will be added to 24-hour case totals between Dec. 14-16 while files continue to be processed.  

ODH also reported 1,807,539 confirmed cases, 27,594 deaths and 91,409 hospitalizations. The agency also reported 1,641,546 presumed recoveries and indicated approximately 6,884,418 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine. This figure represents approximately 58.9 percent of Ohioans - a very low figure compared to numbers nationwide.
