COVID-19 Update: 4,163 Newly Confirmed Cases Today

Jan. 25, 2022

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 4,163 new COVID-19 cases and 565 new hospitalizations. The agency also reported 502 additional deaths.

The ODH said Tuesday's numbers would be artificially low and incomplete due to an electronic laboratory reporting processing error. According to ODH, testing data from across the state is automatically sent through a system that feeds into the Ohio Disease Reporting System. The agency said it received five incorrectly formatted files from a long-term care facility Monday evening with each containing both valid and invalid data. This data caused a backlog in the system and delayed the processing of confirmed cases from other facilities.

ODH also reported 2,520,112& confirmed cases, 32,489 deaths and 105,624 hospitalizations. The agency also reported 2,111,480 presumed recoveries and indicated approximately 7,145,161 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine. This figure represents 61 percent of Ohioans - a low figure compared to numbers nationwide.
