The deadline to join the American Association of Society Executives' (ASAE) Power of Associations community sign-on letter is March 10. The letter will be shared with members of Congress and state legislators to foster a better understanding of how associations benefit society and inform policymaking.

Add your organization to the letter. Please refer to the current list of signatories to confirm if your organization joined. Read the letter and join the letter. The letter is part of a revamped Power of Associations campaign that includes a new logo, new and improved website and a new toolkit for association leaders to utilize in conveying the community’s importance.

The Power of Associations sign-on letter highlights the association sector’s role in creating jobs; training the workforce; setting product, service and safety standards; holding meetings and events that inject billions of dollars into the economy; and leading diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

“The association community supports every facet of America’s economy and society,” the letter states. “Trade and professional associations exemplify The Power of Associations every day as they pursue essential missions in public service that champion every industry, every profession and every worker through specialized education and training, research, technical guidance, best practices, standard-setting, advocacy, diversity, equity and inclusion.”

ASAE and countless other associations had to counter misperceptions about the role of trade and professional associations during the fight for access to federal relief programs like the Paycheck Protection Program in 2020. Only after a sustained advocacy campaign led by ASAE and others did Congress expand access to the PPP to include the association community. ASAE created The Power of Associations campaign to broaden and solidify awareness of associations’ beneficial purpose and impact.

In addition to associations, ASAE encourages signatures from businesses, other nonprofits and any organization that supports The Power of Associations.
