Cloudflare Fixes Outage That Took Down ChatGPT
The content delivery network also revealed the cause of its outage
On Tuesday morning, internet infrastructure company Cloudflare, which is headquartered in San Francisco, faced widespread outages affecting all corners of the web.
As early as 6 a.m. ET, users started reporting problems with Cloudflare according to Downdetector, quickly jumping to over 11,000 reports by 9 a.m. ET. OpenAI and X were among the platforms affected by the outage, with thousands reporting issues primarily with the social media platform's mobile app and ChatGPT. The company, worth approximately $70 billion, saw a downtick of at least 5 percent in premarket trading, and was down at least 2 percent at the time of publishing.
"Cloudflare is experiencing an internal service degradation," the company shared on its website. "Some services may be intermittently impacted. We are focused on restoring service. We will update as we are able to remediate."
