President Donald Trump plans to replace national security adviser Michael Waltz, according to a current and former U.S. official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share a personnel move that has not been announced.
Waltz's anticipated exit would be the first major departure from Trump’s new administration. Waltz infuriated Trump after he mistakenly included a journalist on a Signal group chat discussing highly sensitive attack plans against Houthi militants.
Trump, meanwhile, plans to participate in a National Day of Prayer event at the White House on Thursday before heading to the University of Alabama to deliver a commencement address. While Trump handily carried Alabama all three times he sought the presidency, he is expected to face student protesters in Tuscaloosa.
