Professional Bio

Sean Cooper is an established professional with more than 30 years of experience in the nonprofit and association sectors. He joined the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio (BX) in 2022 as Director of Membership & Services. In this role, he leads efforts to attract new members while engaging and retaining existing members, and he serves as the liaison between the BX’s Business Services Partners and the membership. He also oversees the Substance Use Prevention & Recovery program with employee education and supervisor training sessions, as prescribed by Ohio’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.

Before joining the BX, Sean spent more than 20 years working in the central Ohio arts community, where he wore many hats early in his career, before being promoted to executive director with Worthington Arts Council. There, he led the capital campaign to build today’s McConnell Arts Center. Sean also had an events management and production firm that facilitated small seminars to large corporate events, like the Honda Family Festival, the largest one-day event in the history of the Greater Columbus Convention Center at that time.

He was a 2007 recipient of Business First’s Forty under 40 award and a 2001 Fellow in the Jefferson Academy for Leadership & Governance’s Next Generation of Leaders. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The Ohio State University.
