Andy Burnham Becomes Britain's Prime Minister

News,

Andy Burnham has become Britain's seventh prime minister in a decade, succeeding Keir Starmer who quit two years after winning a large parliamentary majority.

Burnham was elected leader of Britain's governing Labour Party unopposed on Friday. Starmer made a short farewell speech before meeting King Charles to formally tender his resignation, Burnham then agreed to the king's request that he become prime minister.

Burnham will pledge to 'rewire' the nation to better focus on issues people care about, such as a cost-of-living crisis and poorly performing services.
