ASAE Supports Bipartisan Bill to Prevent Government Shutdowns
The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) recently voiced strong support for bipartisan legislation introduced earlier this year to help prevent federal government shutdowns and hold Congress accountable for reaching agreement on long-term funding.
The Prevent Government Shutdowns Act of 2026, introduced in May by Sens. James Lankford (R-OK) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) would establish automatic continuing resolutions to keep the government operating while creating incentives for Congress to complete the appropriations process promptly.
Government shutdowns threaten the reliable air travel association professionals depend on to attend conferences and events. They also disrupt federal grants, workforce programs, technical assistance, apprenticeship registration, economic data releases and other essential services that help associations serve their members and the public.
