Attorney General Warns about New Parking Ticket Scam That’s Fooling Ohio Residents

News,

On Thursday, Attorney General Dave Yost issued an alert to Ohio residents about fraudulent text messages claiming recipients owe unpaid parking or toll fines and must pay immediately or face court action.

The scam messages include what appears to be an official court document and contain a QR code directing individuals to a website to pay the supposed fine. According to Yost’s office, these messages are fraudulent and not connected to the court system.

"Scammers rely on fear and urgency," Yost said in a statement. "If you receive a message threatening court action or demanding immediate payment, take a moment to verify it before responding."
