Columbus Education Association Condemns Insurance Increases for CCS Employees

Teachers and district employees at Columbus City Schools are facing higher health care costs beginning Jan. 1, 2027, after the district and the Columbus Education Association failed to reach an agreement on changes to their health insurance plan.

The months-long insurance dispute is drawing concern from Columbus teachers and union representatives, who say the increased costs could affect the district’s workforce.

"This is not only going to affect our teachers. We're going to have resignations; you're going to see quality administrators leave," said John Coniglio, president of the Columbus Education Association.
