Detect Burnout Early by Using Organizational Data
Burnout is often dismissed as an individual problem, but, sometimes, the problem is the workplace. In the session, "Culture by Design - What Separates High Performance," Gurucharan Singh Gandhi, Vodaphone Idea's chief human resources officer (CHRO), shared how organizational data can help leaders to identify early signs of burnout and workplace dysfunction.
Organizations can look for early signals rather than waiting for lagging indicators such as attrition to show a problem. Long hours, increasing employee complaints and slow approval processes may be indicative of deeper problems in how work is getting done.
Gandhi said the problem that underlies it may not always be the complexity of the work. The organization is often so process-heavy and chaotic that employees are under undue pressure and spend more time managing the system than actually doing their jobs.
