The American Council of Engineering Companies of Ohio (ACEC Ohio) is the state's leading trade
association representing the business interests of engineering firms throughout Ohio. ACEC Ohio
advocates for the business of engineering, delivers professional development and connects
member firms with industry leaders and public officials across the state.

The Opportunity

ACEC Ohio is seeking a dynamic, highly organized and relationship-oriented professional to serve
as Director of Programs. In this role, you will lead the planning and execution of ACEC Ohio's
conferences, educational programs and special events, while serving as a key staff liaison to
regional chapters and volunteer committees.

This is an ideal role for an association or nonprofit professional who thrives on project management,
vendor coordination, volunteer leadership and delivering exceptional member experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Program, Meeting & Event Operations:

  • Event execution: Lead the end-to-end planning and logistics for statewide conferences,
    educational seminars, webinars and networking events.
  • Signature events: Oversee primary operations for key annual programs, including the ACEC
    Ohio Annual Meeting, ODOT/ACEC Ohio Partnering Conference and Engineering Excellence
    Awards (EEA).
  • Logistics & venues: Coordinate venues, catering, AV services, room setups, registrations,
    name-tags and onsite support.
  • Speakers & content: Collaborate with committee leaders and subject-matter experts to source
    speakers, build agendas and issue Professional Development Hours (PDHs).

Chapter & Committee Liaison:

  • Chapter support: Serve as the primary staff point of contact for designated regional chapters,
    assisting chapter leadership with meeting schedules, speaker outreach and event logistics.
  • Committee management: Staff designated committees coordinating meeting agendas, tracking
    action items and supporting volunteer recruitment.

Revenue & Budget Management:

  • Sponsorships: Coordinate program-specific sponsorship packages, manage sponsor
    commitments and ensure all sponsor benefits and recognitions are fulfilled.
  • Budgeting: Develop preliminary program budgets, track revenues and expenses, negotiate
    vendor contracts within guidelines and ensure event profitability.

Team Collaboration:

  • Communications integration: Work closely with communication director by providing event
    schedules, speaker highlights and recap photos to power promotional campaigns.

Position Requirements

  • Experience: 3–5+ years in association management, nonprofit event coordination, meeting
    planning or professional services.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and
    experience.
  • Core competencies: Strong project management skills, detail orientation, budget management
    skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Relationship building: Proven track record working constructively with volunteer leaders,
    boards, vendors, speakers and sponsors.
  • Technical skills: Familiarity with Association Management Systems (AMS), event registration
    software and standard office technology.
  • Travel & hours: Ability to travel within Ohio for regional meetings/events, with occasional early
    morning, evening or weekend responsibilities tied to major conferences.
