Ground Cinnamon Recalled in 14 States over Possible Lead Contamination

News,

More ground cinnamon is under recall because it might contain elevated levels of lead, the latest brand to be recalled after an expanded Federal Drug Administration (FDA) alert affecting more than a dozen brands of ground cinnamon in recent months.

SLR Food Distribution Inc. is recalling Wise Wife brand ground cinnamon, according to the FDA.

The recall was triggered after Connecticut state officials collected and tested a sample of the product and found elevated lead levels, the company said. The announcement did not say how much lead was detected. No illnesses have been reported, the company said. The cinnamon was shipped to retail and grocery stores in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. Distribution ran from Sept. 8, 2025, to June 28, 2026.
