Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Faculty Member Named President-elect of ADA

Recently, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced that Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Professor Elizabeth Beverly, Ph.D., has been selected as the president-elect of healthcare and education. She is part of a 15-member board of medical, scientific, education and executive business professionals who are responsible for ensuring the ADA advances its mission of diabetes research, advocacy, education and community support.

"I am honored to be chosen by the American Diabetes Association for this role," said Beverly. "I look forward to elevating the needs and experiences of people with diabetes in rural and underserved communities, including Appalachian Ohio, while also celebrating the resilience and cultural richness that define this region."

Beverly has been instrumental in Ohio University’s efforts to address diabetes through research, training and patient care. She previously served as co-director of the Diabetes Institute and is currently the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Ralph S. Licklider, D.O. Endowed Professor in Behavioral Diabetes. She also co-directs the Southeastern Ohio Regional Quality Improvement Hub and the Diabetes Institute Summer Inter-professional Research Experience, an apprentice-based research program to educate and engage undergraduates in diabetes research.
