Keys to Association Fundraising
Associations ask people to open their wallets quite often. Member dues. Conference and event fees. Products and services. Donations to an affiliated charitable foundation. Is it reasonable to ask for an add-on donation, as well?
It is a tricky but not impossible step to take, and Tommy Amal, MS, CFRE, chief advancement officer at the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), suggests that associations might be selling themselves short by not considering that additional ask to give, or support giving efforts.
"Think about some of your more seasoned association folks who’ve been part of your association for years," he said. "They don't want to be on the board' they don't want to be on a committee; they don't want to do all of that stuff anymore. But they might be willing to raise money."
