Life-threatening Recall Issued on 55,000 Pounds of Blueberries

News,

More than 55,000 pounds of blueberries were recalled over the possibility of contamination with disease-causing bacteria.

The Oregon Potato Company originally issued the recall of 55,689 pounds of its IQF Blueberry product on Feb. 12, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Federal officials have since upgraded the recall's classification to "Class I" meaning there's the potential of serious health consequences or death.

The blueberries weren't sold directly to customers in retail stores but were distributed to people in Michigan, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin. The blueberries were sold within 30-pound cardboard cases and 14,000-pound totes.
