Longwood's International's October 2026 Update on Canadian Travel Sentiment towards the U.S.

News,

According to the latest Longwoods International tracking study of Canadian travelers, 31 percent of them traveled to the U.S. in the past six months, little changed from a year ago. And while 18 percent of them canceled trips to the U.S., down from 23 percent in October 2025, the percentage of Canadian travelers with no intent to visit the U.S. during the past six months rose from 47 percent a year ago to 51 percent in the latest survey.

"We know Canadian travelers rate the U.S. highly as a great travel destination," said President and CEO of Longwoods International Amir Eylon. "But the combination of American politics and policies, higher prices and the exchange rate are holding back Canadian travel to the U.S."

When asked if they intend to travel to the U.S. in the next 12 months, 47 percent said that they do plan a U.S. trip, up from 39 percent in April 2025. Among those Canadian travelers who do not plan to travel to the U.S. in the next twelve months, 70 percent reported that an improved political relationship between the U.S. and Canada would make them more likely to visit the U.S., while 40 percent cited that a more favorable exchange rate would be a positive factor for U.S. travel.
