Man Charged with Arson as Wildfires Consume Parts of Spokane, Washington
Authorities in Spokane, Washington, have made an arrest in connection with the Old Trails Fire, one of the three major wildfires consuming parts of the region.
The suspect, 37-year-old Aaron Farinacci, was charged with first-degree arson.
Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels said a witness driving near where the fire started saw a man standing on the side of the road looking into the trees. Then, 10 minutes later, the witness saw the man "bending down" near the grass, standing up and looking "very nervous." Back home, the witness contacted police after seeing smoke emerging from the same area, Nowels said at a news briefing late Monday.
