Marketing & Digital Communications Manager: Ohio Physical Therapy Association

Job Board,

Position Overview

The Ohio Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) is seeking a creative, strategic and highly skilled communications professional to lead one of the most significant digital transformations in the organization's history. This isn't a traditional marketing position.

Over the next two years, the successful candidate will help redesign and relaunch OPTA's website, implement a new association management system, modernize their digital marketing strategy, expand their multimedia storytelling, help grow their charitable foundation and redefine how they engage more than 3,700 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and students across Ohio.

OPTA is looking for someone who thinks beyond newsletters and social media -- someone who embraces emerging technology, creates compelling stories, produces exceptional video content and enjoys building systems that strengthen member engagement.

Working directly with the Executive Director, you'll help shape the future of the organization while elevating the visibility and impact of the physical therapy profession throughout Ohio.

  • Produce professional-quality videos, podcasts, photography, graphic design and multimedia content.
  • Develop and execute social media and email marketing strategies that drive measurable engagement.
  • Utilize website, email, and social media analytics to evaluate performance and continuously improve marketing effectiveness.
  • Expand OPTA's digital presence through innovative storytelling and emerging communication channels.

Website, Technology and Digital Transformation

  • Lead the redevelopment and launch of OPTA's new website and association management system.
  • Oversee website content strategy, user experience, SEO and ongoing digital optimization.
  • Partner with technology vendors and consultants to implement innovative digital solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve communications, member engagement and organizational efficiency.

Membership and Organizational Engagement

  • Develop integrated marketing campaigns that support membership recruitment, retention and engagement.
  • Build relationships with members, prospective members, academic programs, volunteers, sponsors and strategic partners.
  • Support conferences, advocacy initiatives, foundation fundraising, and educational programs through creative marketing and communications.
  • Serve as staff liaison to assigned committees and special interest groups (SIGs), providing communications, project management and strategic support.

Project Leadership

  • Lead high-impact cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Manage multiple priorities while coordinating staff, volunteers, vendors, and external partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness through innovation, technology, and process changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

  • Measurable improvements in marketing performance and campaign effectiveness.
  • Strong collaboration with staff, volunteer leaders and external partners.

The Marketing and Digital Communications Manager shall meet on an annual basis, or more frequently, if necessary, with the Executive Director to discuss progress on annual goals.
