Noticing the Remarkable Things in Your Career Builds Work-life Balance
I was interviewing a Hollywood producer for my podcast when our conversation took an unexpected turn. We had been discussing creativity, resilience and what helps people persevere through difficult times. Without warning, he stood up from his chair, walked across his office, flipped on a light switch and declared, "Life is amazing!"
For a moment, I was unsure where he was going. Then the room filled with light. His point wasn't philosophical. It was practical. With the flick of a finger, darkness disappeared. Something so ordinary that we rarely notice it had suddenly become extraordinary. I instantly knew what he meant. The experience threw me into Sky Mind—an awareness of everything in my life that I overlook as I go through the workday.
So much of what we think and discuss about work and our careers are heartaches, disappointments and threats. Don't get me wrong. The workplace is going through rough times, and we must be aware of and solve the problems.
