Ohio Halts New Data Center Tax Exemptions as Committee Reviews Impact
Last week, Governor Mike DeWine announced that any new data center tax exemption requests will be put on pause while a committee continues to study the industry's growth in Ohio.
The Ohio General Assembly's Joint Data Center Committee, co-chaired by Sen. Brian Chavez and Rep. Adam Holmes, held its first meeting Wednesday.
DeWine said he supports the General Assembly's work to bring forward facts about data centers, including the "local benefits to communities when tax exemptions are granted."
