One of the Nation's Biggest Liquor Distributors Just Filed for Bankruptcy.

Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) was formerly the second-largest wine and spirits distributor in the country. This week, it filed for bankruptcy.

The distributor voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sunday after a year-long shakedown in the Southern District of Texas district federal court to explore possible sale transactions, according to a company statement.

It is implementing "an orderly wind down" of its remaining operations. The bankruptcy covers all remaining corporate and distribution operations across the country that RNDC still owns outside of its joint ventures.
