The Somaliland Ohio Association Launches in Columbus

On July 18, 2026, Somaliland community members across Ohio gathered in Columbus to officially launch the Somaliland Ohio Association, marking a new chapter for a community that has spent years building connections, supporting families, and contributing to the state they call home.

While the association is newly established, the community behind it is not. For years, Somalilanders in Ohio have organized cultural events, supported families, celebrated heritage, encouraged youth and created networks to help community members succeed.

The launch creates a formal platform to expand that work and address the opportunities and challenges facing a growing community in Ohio. As Ohio continues to grow and become more diverse, community-led organizations play an important role in helping families navigate the systems that impact their daily lives.
