Don’t Let the Story End at Your Legislative Fly-in
Advocacy fly-ins are one of the most powerful experiences associations create for their members. Bringing constituents face to face with policymakers can shape legislation, deepen engagement and remind participants why their profession or industry matters. But something important often gets lost.
Members get trained in the core advocacy messaging. They then have meaningful conversations with legislators. They share personal stories. They leave energized about their role in advocacy. And then the fly-in ends.
Within a few days, the stories that made those meetings powerful fade away. The insights shared on Capitol Hill rarely reach the broader membership or continue fueling the advocacy effort. Associations are beginning to rethink this dynamic.
