Employees' Use of AI Is Creating a New Kind of Workplace Burnout
Gen-Z is often credited with leading awareness of mental health issues in the workplace. This generation is more comfortable with the subject than their elders, often choosing to prioritize mental wellbeing instead of bowing to traditional workplace norms—like "putting the company first."
However, despite rising awareness, many workplaces simply are not keeping pace with supporting workers' mental health, and this issue is likely going to get worse. A new report highlights that the rushed, chaotic, controversial arrival of artificial intelligence (AI) tech is intensifying needs for mental health help—and that company leaders just aren't equipped to help.
Recent surveys have highlighted how much pressure workers feel they are under, HRDive notes in its report. A study by online jobseeker network Monster found nearly six in 10 employees said their job is actively harming their mental wellbeing, and a survey from social job site Glassdoor showed a dramatic uptick in users reporting burnout compared to last year.
