Event Planning, Meetings & Conference Manager: Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association
The Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association is seeking an event planning, meetings and conference manager. This role is vital in creating memorable experiences that align with organizational goals, enhance member engagement and promote the organization's visibility. This individual will contribute to the mission of providing networking and resources to Ohio’s hotel and lodging industry, while promoting and assisting the continued growth of the association through member engagement.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a proactive approach to project management and a passion for delivering outstanding hospitality and event services. Responsibilities for this key position include the conceptualization, creation and execution of events programming, including the annual conference, awards events, local councils, committee and leadership meetings and more. This role will also manage the Conference & Events committee and member networks, such as emerging professionals.
This position will collaborate with and receive input and support from leaders of other areas of operations, including education, membership and communications. This is a cross-training opportunity, with the chance to be involved in and impact virtually all aspects of a statewide business association.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improving meeting strategies and tactics.
- Leading the planning, scheduling and execution of annual conference, awards events, regional meetings, networking events and advocacy days.
- Developing event plans, meeting budgets, location selection, vendor negotiation and coordination and guest experience.
- Manage event budgets meticulously, tracking expenses and identifying opportunities for upselling additional services or enhancements to maximize revenue.
- Executing events onsite including setup, load out, all logistics and evaluations.
- Utilize event management/CRM system to streamline planning processes, maintain detailed records and facilitate effective client communication.
- Collaborating on event invitations, promotional content, email blasts, mail campaigns and other communication related to events.
- Managing awards nomination and judging processes.
- Working with and managing member volunteers on related committees.
- Verifying and entering data and updating for events and related membership/volunteer activity.
Position Requirements:
- Four-year degree or equivalent, with preference for focus in disciplines related to duties of this position.
- Event planning experience.
- Familiarity with membership or customer database tools.
- Use of social media platforms.
- MS Office suite skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Business writing skills.
- Follow-through and attention to detail.
- Association experience helpful.
- Other duties as assigned.
