The question I am most often asked by people who are self-conscious about speaking in public is: "What should I do with my hands?"

The answer is, not much. Seriously.

When it comes to speaking in public, people worry too much about how they should stand, move and gesture. But that usually leads to body language that is unnatural and calls attention to itself. Obviously, if your audience is responding to you based on the way you hold yourself and move, your influence is not going to be what you had been seeking.
