Judge’s Decision on TPS Offers Temporary Relief to Ohio's Haitian Immigrants

Columbus leaders, activists, state representatives and faith leaders stood in a united front at City Hall to discuss what comes next for Haitian immigrants after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from ending Temporary Protected Status for Haitians.

This means that Haitians will be able to continue working and living under legal protections, but the decision is not final and the Trump administration has already indicated plans to appeal U.S. District Court Judge Ana Reyes' decision.

"This fight is far from over," said Yola Lamarre, an advocate at the Haitian Community Network. "People have built their lives here, who have cars, investments, properties, kids, families; they could have been subject to deportation."
