Ohioans on SNAP can Apply for Replacement Benefits if Power Outages Spoiled Food
Those on the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) whose food spoiled over the weekend because of prolonged power outages can apply for replacement benefits.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) said households that lost food purchased with SNAP benefits due to a power outage of four hours or more can apply to receive replacement benefits for the amount of food lost, as long as it does not exceed their monthly allotment.
ODJFS says that households need to fill out this form within 10 days of the loss and submit it to their County Department of Job and Family Services.
