The U.S. government is trying to make daylight saving time (DST) permanentonce again.

The House on Tuesday passed a measure, known as the "Sunshine Protection Act," that would set our clocks to DST permanently if it clears the Senate and is signed into law by President Donald Trump.

Currently, 48 states and the District of Columbia, nearly 100 percent of the nation, change their clocks twice annually, with a jump forward to DST each spring to shift an hour of daylight from the mornings to the evenings.
