Significant Rainfall Floods Kelleys Island’s Roadways

News,

Authorities on Kelleys Island are urging the public to use caution, as significant rainfall - nearly 16 inches of it - overnight led to flooding around the island.

In a series of Facebook posts Monday morning, the Village of Kelleys Island Police Department said the rainfall flooded roadways and downed trees and encouraged anyone traveling on the island to proceed with caution. The department said just before 7 a.m. that West Lake Shore Drive was impassable between 127 and 135 W. Lakeshore.

Additionally, the department requested that residents conserve water usage until further notice as the village attempts to get levels and pumps working at normal levels.
