CNBC recently named Ohio the "top state for business" in 2026. The recognition affirms the collaborative efforts that continue to position the state of Ohio as a premier destination for business growth, investment, innovation and opportunity.

Ohio tops CNBC's competitiveness rankings for the first time, driven by the nation's best infrastructure and low business costs. According to the media outlet, the Buckeye State offers companies broad market access, with more than 143 million people living within a day’s drive, low real estate costs, reasonable utility and insurance costs, generous incentives and shovel-ready sites.

The state earned the nation's top ranking after placing No. 1 in both Infrastructure and cost of doing business, while also ranking among the nation’s leaders in economy, technology and innovation, access to capital and cost of living. It is the pinnacle of a long climb for the Buckeye State, once considered the buckle of the Rust Belt. Ohio finished 30th in the inaugural CNBC study in 2007. Today, it is a magnet for growth, capital and innovation, truly living up to its slogan, "The Heart of it All."
