Pentagon Urges Defense Companies to Increase Production as Stockpiles Run Low During Iran War

The Pentagon has asked the U.S. efense industry to ramp up production as stockpiles run low during the Iran war. The issue has frustrated President Donald Trump, sources previously told CNN, as he seeks to maintain leverage over Tehran.

Trump signaled an emphasis on increasing economic pressure on Iran, saying in an interview Sunday that Washington is "low-keying" negotiations with the country for now.

Iran says direct talks cannot begin until the U.S. honors the agreements from an interim deal signed in June. The country’s national security chief has also issued a list of conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
