Severe Storms and Heavy Rainfall Possible Monday and Tuesday

A WBNS-10 Weather Impact Alert has been issued for Monday and Tuesday as an active weather pattern could bring multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms across parts of Ohio. The main concerns are damaging wind gusts, but a potential for hail and an isolated tornado also being monitored. With several rounds of storms moving through, they will bring heavy rainfall and possible concerns of localized flash flooding.

The Storm Prediction Center has most of Ohio in a Level 2 (slight) risk for severe thunderstorms on Monday, and more focused over central and southern Ohio on Tuesday. Although the risk covers a large part of Ohio both days, not everyone will have to deal with severe weather, but most will see rain through the next few days. All rounds of storms moving through will have a threat for damaging wind gusts, which could start as early as Monday morning, but more likely to see storms later Monday, overnight, and again on Tuesday.

The setup for Monday currently features a cold front advancing from the Great Lakes region. Conditions look to be favorable for instability in the atmosphere, with dew points in the 70s providing plenty of moisture. With a potential for storms early in the day, that will greatly influence how storms develop later in the day.
