We misunderstand power.
We treat it as a prize to be won. We speak about it in the language of ascent — growth curves, dominance, scale — when in fact, power isn’t a destination. It’s contagious and rarely satisfied.
History has always warned us, though we prefer the myth. Alexander the Great is often quoted incorrectly as weeping because there were no more worlds left to conquer. Victory did not quiet his hunger for power. It amplified it. That is power's most dangerous trick. It convinces you that fulfillment lives just one acquisition or promotion away.
