Jim Beam Pausing Production at Main Kentucky Distillery for a Year
Bourbon maker Jim Beam is pausing production at its main distillery in Clermont, Kentucky, for at least a year as the whiskey industry navigates tariffs from the Trump administration and slumping demand for a product that needs years of aging before it is ready.
Jim Beam, which is owned by Suntory Global Spirits, plans to pause production at its main distillery on the James B. Beam campus in Clermont while it invests "in site enhancements," according to the company's statement shared with CNN and The Associated Press.
The company will continue distilling at the Fred B. Noe craft distillery in Clermont and the Booker Noe distillery in Boston, Kentucky.
