Ohio BWC Board of Directors Considers Another Rate Reduction
According to an announcement from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, released on Feb. 6, 2026, its board of directors is considering another percent reduction—potentially saving Ohio's private employers approximately $10 million in premiums.
Ohio's private employers have already seen their workers’ compensation rates drop by an impressive 50 percent since Governor Mike DeWine took office in 2019. The BWC board will vote on the proposal at its Feb. 27 meeting. If approved, the new rate would take effect July 1, delivering significant savings for employers across the state.
"Ohio employers have proven their dedication to workplace safety," said DeWine. "That commitment allows us to reduce rates and continue to make Ohio a great place to work."
